first to tread

The Scout Service leads the way!

From our humble beginnings as terrestrial couriers and surveyors of Clan Aldet-Kazaan on Fen, to our research vessels light years away in unclaimed space, the Scout Service has paved the way across the galaxy for the Rokhandan people.

We're more than just your mail carriers-- we're scientists, explorers, claim-stakers and pathfinders, serving the borders of our society and beyond. We're the first to tread where no Rokhandan has stood before, surveying habitable planets and establishing jump points to new frontiers. We build bridges-- not just between worlds but between clans, guided by a pursuit of science and knowledge that transcends politics.

To become a Scout is to take up the mantle of the Ruz'kahni Directorate, to become runner, ranger and researcher in one, an emissary to the stars. In peacetime and in strife, we are the thread that ties our people together, from Ahni forward.

Today, more than four million of us proudly wear the Sigil of Ahni. With both career and reserve positions available on every planet in the Directorate and beyond, we are your neighbor, your grocer, the shop owner up the street. What's more, eligible citizens can complete their mandatory service to their clan entirely within the scope of their duties in the Scout Service, meaning no four year academy commitment or lengthy time offworld.

For those looking for an exciting career path, the Scout Service offers fully paid training in the fields of research, engineering, surveying and prospecting, with three, five, and ten year commitments. Wanting to enter the Merchant Marine, but not wishing to attending the Naval Academy on Fen? Our two year Reserve Officers' Training Program guarantees a rank of RO-2 upon graduation, with a brevet promotion to Senior Lieutenant available with an extended service contract.

Life circumstances preventing you from leaving your homeworld? Scout Couriers deliver more than three billion packages per day, and we can't do it without you! Ask your recruiter about local positions with the Courier service and serve your clan commitments while still returning to home life every night.

Make a difference in the galaxy, now and for generations to come. Visit your local RDEF Service Center today and join the Scouts!

What veterans say about their service

I was in my forties and aimless in life. Joining the Scout Service completely turned things around for me. I served my time and now I'm a systems specialist on a Vayrand Freightliner!

Listen, chomper, if you're not doing anything with your life and don't want to end up laying in an alley on Tekthall II with brain slugs, do yourself a solid and join the Scouts. You might still get brain slugs but at least you'll be doing something meaningful, and it's better than prostitution or pizza delivery.

-Lyrah A., AgWorld 14

I lost my legs fighting for the Coalition and thought my career was over. Through the Scouts, I joined a clan and became a Rokhandan, and I've never looked back.

Some of the best years of my life were spent in the Scouts. I was on the ship that discovered the Kouskhana System, and now I have a plant named after me.
